I have enjoyed teaching and mediating Art in a variety of capacities, 3rd level architectural college, childrens'workshops, museum workshops, people with support needs. I have focused a lot on the transmission of observational drawing skills. This is really about increasing a student's capacity to see, to perceive, more and differently. I have researched the most effective exercises for aiming to strike the right balance between enjoyment and rigour, result and process. I have been motivated by the variety of results achieved by different students. I believe the practice of observational drawing goes far beyond the result on the paper and gives us possibilities to perceive our environment in ways other than through the dominant symbolic language of ordinary interaction.
