strange bathers series
Recent paintings, including the Strange Bathers series, represent new ways of exploring relationships between figure and ground. Figures or objects emerge from the picture plane in ways that invite the view to experience shifts between the physical presence of the material, and the expansiveness of imagined space. Playing with the notion of consciousness as ‘felt uncertainty’, subject, object, and process interchange, and the viewer’s sense of ground is implicated
